Dolcelatte: More Than Just a Home of Croughnuts

Tuesday, March 24th, 2015 (10:03:15 AM)

When in Manila, do you still remember the croughnut craze and how much people braved long lines just for one bite? Dolcelatte was one of those restaurants. However, I’ve recently discovered that this isn’t just a home of the renowned flaky doughnut-shaped pastry, but that it is also a home where I can indulgence in savoury dishes all-day long.

But of course, Dolcelatte Croughnuts are still worth lining-up for.

Dolcelatte Cafe is in fact a Gourmet Restaurant and Bakeshop. Croughnuts are one of their best-selling on-the-go desserts, but they offer a lot more than that. From the name itself you’ll know that this place is where quality cuisine resides– a coffee shop that satiates cravings and a bakeshop that offers a spectrum of cakes and pastries.

Foie Gras With Apple Chutney  375 Php

For our first indulgence we got to try Dolcelatte’s luxury ingredient– foie gras. The pan-seared foie gras was placed on top of Arugula with Balsamic reduction, served as an appetizer with sweet Apple Cranberry Chutney on the side. The liver blew me away with its creamy texture and savory taste and the chutney was the perfect partner to complement it with its sweet and tangy taste.

Cobb Salad Php 450 Php

Following the rich taste of foie gras is this salad of chicken strips, bacon bits, corn, avocado, hard-boiled egg, and tortilla chips and iceberg lettuce topped with parmesan cheese and apple cider vinaigrette (or honey mustard dressing).   It’s a salad good for 2–a refreshing choice if you want something other than your usual caesar or greek.

Baked Truffle Pasta- 470 Php

This dish was a personal favorite. I’ve said in my recent entries that I love cream-based pasta. Well, this dish makes me head-over-heels cream-based pasta even more! Grilled Cheese, Shitake Mushrooms, Bacon, and a hint of Truffle makes this dish a very special one. I think I won’t get tired of eating it despite its creamy and rich flavour.

Steak and Foie Gras 975 Php

Our first steak indulgence of the night  is this plate of foie gras and steak goodness. Before you react with its price, please consider these first: It has tenderloin Beef Medallion, pan-seared Foie Gras, sautéed spinach, mushrooms, and  Truffle fries. Everything cooked and seasoned to perfection.

must say, this plate is at par with what I eat in other hotels, maybe even better. This is an obvious must-try if you happen to be in Dolcelatte.
